Ethnicity-based federalism a must: Newar community

Speaking at a mass gathering organised by Newa Swayatta Rajya Manka Sangharsa Samiti in Kathmandu Saturday, leaders from Newar community said federal provinces must be carved up along ethnic lines. They also demanded that Kathmandu valley be declared 'Newa autonomous state'. Leaders from various parties including Maoist leader and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai's wife Hisila Yami and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal chairman Upendra Yadav spoke in favour of ethnicity-based federalism.
